Monday!
Either you jumped out of bed at the crack of dawn, excited to tackle a new week, or you hit the alarm clock three times and muttered some choice words.... (OR, you're still in bed while I'm writing this post and are quite content with your place in life, no judgment here!)
I had this thought as I was getting my coffee this morning.
I woke up at 5 am, read some inspirational reading to get my mind right. I put a load of laundry in the washing machine, mapped out my week, and felt like I still needed another hour to rest before getting my groove on this morning. So, I let the wash work, climbed back into bed next to my little dog who was happily ever after in dream land, and slept another hour.
I know it charged me up to full. At 5 am I felt charged, but maybe only to 80%, like your cell phone that's charged.
When 7 am came around, hopping in the shower, getting dressed in my favorite leggings and snappy athletic jacket, I felt prepared to lace up my sneakers and take the doggie for a walk. It didn't hurt that the sun was shining and the weather is getting nicer (than it has been the past two weeks) and for a few moments all is well in the world. I wasn't in weekend mode and I wasn't in Monday mode, just yet, though... I was in the present moment.
I had this mini-epiphany or mini-moment if it wasn't quite an epiphany-level idea, that we can be well-rested (80% battery at 5 am) or we can be fully-charged (100% battery after another couple hours) and the difference in that 20% is quality. Pure quality. It wasn't an effort those couple of hours later to get moving with my day. I wasn't focused on the urgent and the challenges before me, I wasn't stuck in the wishing it were still the weekend, I was just centered on my present situation, enjoying my surroundings to the fullest.
There is a different level clarity we find being 100% fully charged. And that is how I am starting this new week... Happy Monday, friends!
